Andy Moore and Jenny Ovenden began the Gemfish research project at UQ in a series of meetings in August 2013. Read about this project here. Andy and Jenny set up the sampling protocol for genetic analyses, as well for the collection of otolith and gonad samples, to investigate alternate biological stock models for the resource in southern and south-eastern Australia.
Andy and Jenny are looking forward to working closely with fishers as well as colleagues in government agencies, such as AFMA. They will use this web site, as well as facebook, as a major project communication tool to allow two-way between the research team and gemfish stakeholders.
